The Tuskegee Civic Association used these 10 steps to make democracy happen and create civic, economic, social and political equality.
1. Overcoming civic indifference and apathy
2. Promoting civic education programs
3. Conducting public forums and debates
4. Calling for intelligent economic action
5. Urging a wider participation in civic affairs
6. Helping citizens to qualify for intelligent civic action
7. Urging qualified persons to run for public action
8. Working for integration in public education
9. Petitioning public officials to perform their duties
10. Expecting court action to compel public officials to perform their duties
